CAKEHOLE - SHORT FILM
Comedy in the darkest places
Personal project
I wrote and produced CAKEHOLE.
This film, about a bulimic woman working in a quiet cafe surrounded by delicious (and persuasive) muffins, tries to shine a light on the inner workings of a bulimic brain. I anthropomorphised the muffin to show how much power the food has over her, unbeknownst to anyone else. I wanted to demonstrate the power of the brain and how all-consuming eating disorders can be.
Initially I wrote CAKEHOLE to be a one-woman show for theatre. I toured the play around the UK. I was passionate about the message reaching a wider audience, so I adapted it into a film.
Note: This is just a teaser! The full script never got made because it was just before the pandemic :(
